    Editor-in-Chief, BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health 

    BMJ Group and the NNEdPro Global Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health seek a new Editor-in-Chief (EiC) for BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health, a journal dedicated to presenting the best available evidence of the impact of nutrition and lifestyle factors on the health of individuals and populations. 

    This is an exceptional opportunity for the right candidate to lead a highly successful journal and shape its direction, influence, and impact in the field. As EiC, you will set the editorial strategy, appoint your editorial team, and provide critical expertise to advance the journal’s scientific and academic contributions. 

    About the role 

    Define the journal’s strategic vision in collaboration with BMJ Group and NNEdPro, setting editorial priorities, shaping content and social media engagement, and forging key partnerships 

    Recruit and lead a dynamic editorial team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence with a diverse team across a range of dimensions 

    Oversee content decisions, ensuring the highest standards of scientific credibility, ethical integrity, and quality 

    Lead a rigorous peer review process to ensure that only the most impactful, innovative, and ethically sound research is published 

    Enhance the journal’s impact by curating and commissioning content on emerging trends and groundbreaking topics across all areas of nutrition 

    Act as the journal’s primary ambassador, building relationships with researchers, institutions, and contributors, to ensure the journal’s reach and appeal 

    Handle appeals and complaints related to editorial decisions or research integrity issues, maintaining transparency, professionalism, and respect 

    Collaborate with BMJ Group and its network of editors to launch cross-journal initiatives, share best practices, and optimise content dissemination 

    About the person 

    The successful candidate will need to demonstrate high-level editorial leadership with an established international journal; extensive experience in nutrition research; and a distinguished publication record. They will possess clinical and research experience that will inform sound editorial decision-making and critical appraisal of scientific evidence. 

    The EiC will require strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead an editorial team and engage with a diverse, global academic community. They will have a global network of contacts within the field and a strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. International applications are encouraged and we welcome joint applications. 

    Commitment and remuneration 

    The new EiC will take up the role fully in January 2026, although the handover period can start sooner than this. This is a remote, independent contractor position, with an initial 3-year contract, renewable by mutual agreement. 

    Annual remuneration will be provided. As part of the BMJ Group network, the EiC will gain access to an engaged community of editors and enjoy opportunities for professional networking. Full training and support will be provided, along with membership to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

    The NNEdPro Global Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health is an award-winning international think tank, research and training organisation based in Cambridge, UK, with an active global presence across six continents.     As part of its flagship publishing initiative, NNEdPro co-founded BMJ NPH in partnership with BMJ Group to foster a credible, evidence-based platform for disseminating high-impact research on nutrition and preventive health. This strategic collaboration reinforces the journal’s commitment to translational science, practice-informed research, and global reach. 

    The Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of BMJ NPH will be invited to sit in a non-executive capacity on the NNEdPro Board, offering strategic guidance and benefiting from engagement with a wide network of experts. In addition, all Editorial Board members of the journal also receive fee waivers for membership of both NNEdPro and IANE, gaining access to professional development opportunities, global networks, and institutional support in nutrition education and research.

    The Role: Key Responsibilities

    - Provide Scientific Input to Enhance Our Solutions

    - Develop and apply cutting-edge scientific frameworks and guidelines that enable the creation of innovative health and wellness products.

    - Deliver high-quality scientific dossiers to support evidence-based development of new and enhanced solutions.

    - Present scientific findings clearly to influence internal decision-makers and strengthen H&B’s position as a research-driven innovator in wellness.

    Location: This role is based in London (or Nuneaton), and is required to travel to our Nuneaton Hub (or London) and occasionally to any other location of H&B. We support flexibility and productivity of our employees by hybrid working arrangements with minimum 2 days presence in the offices.

    The Person: Key Requirements

    - Deep expertise in nutritional science with a strong track record in designing and delivering research to inform product innovation.

    - Proven ability to lead and interpret nutrition research, including interventional or real-world evidence studies

    - Skilled in translating complex scientific evidence into clear, credible insights that shape product development, services, and marketing narratives.

    - Experience in health and wellness industry or FMCG highly desirable, particularly in the area of food or food supplements/VHMS.

    - Highly collaborative team player, experienced in leading cross-functional projects and working with internal and external scientific stakeholders.

    - Excellent communication skills, able to influence at all levels and engage both scientific and non-scientific audiences.

    - Passionate about health and wellness, with a proactive and agile mindset that thrives in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment.
